Nestled on the shores of Gonsua Beach in Majorda the award winning Alila Diwa is a 153 rooms 5 star luxury resort set amongst the rice terraces developed by the Alila Group out of Singapore.

The resort was opened in 2010 and was named “Best New Hotel in 2010” by Conde Nast Traveller, USA, and has continued to garner awards and accolades both from the travel media and guests.

SCI was commissioned to undertake the landscape architecture through to detailed design and landscape construction management.
Sitting amongst the rice terraces, the terraced infinity pool extending out into the terraces draws inspiration from the local laterite stone and the rice terraces themselves. The landscape uses the reflection pools to highlight the architecture, landscape forms and the surrounding environment, and this is further enhanced at night with feature lighting. The contemporary tropical design, inspired by traditional Goan architecture sits naturally within its surrounding environment.

This contemporary tropical theme is expressed through the designs simple clean lines while maintaining a perfect mix of Goa’s old-world charm. These clean lines are expressed in the formal reflection ponds that link throughout the resort through to main pool. The water features are complimented by formal courtyards and shady colonnades that provide a cool shady link for guests to wander through to the various facilities.
